Looking Out For Virginia

Filed under: Bob McDonnell — loudounlady @ 9:08 pm

A recent Washington Post article announces Northrop Grumman will select its headquarters to be located in Virginia.  The decision as to where Northrop Grumman would locate its headquarters was between Virginia and Maryland.

This recent announcement is a major victory for not only the McDonnell administration but the entire Commonwealth, for it will undoubtedly bring hundreds and hundreds of jobs to the Commonwealth.

Thanks Governor McDonnell, keep up the good work!!

The Problem With the GOP?

Filed under: Bob McDonnell,Scott Brown — loudounlady @ 4:24 pm

RECENTLY elected Senator Scott Brown has ruled out a presidential run in 2012. I consider myself pretty up-to-date on political developments but the idea that Brown was contemplating of running for the Big Office in two years came out of left field. Hearing this announcement got me thinking that Brown’s announcement may be touching on a broader problem for the GOP.

To me it seems like the GOP us looking for the next Ronald Reagan. We are looking for that charismatic leader who can simply breath words of reform and they will happen. Well GOP sorry to burst your bubble but this isn’t going to happen so stop trying.

The search for the next Reagan started with Bob McDonnell. Even before McDonnell was elected to office there were rumors of a possible 2012 run. THIS WAS BEFORE HE WAS ELECTED. Now, just weeks after being elected the same is happening with Scott Brown. Looking at McDonnell and Brown one sees many similarities. Both unseated incumbent Democrats, both are RISING stars in the GOP, and both individuals will become dominant forces in GOP politics in the years to come. This last similarity is what we need to be careful of.

McDonnell and Brown are rising stars, they have not proven themselves just yet, though McDonnell’s response to the State of the Union illustrated a flash of McDonnell’s brilliance.

So where to go from here. I suggest the GOP looks inward. Find a candidate, sorry Romney but your not it, who has been around for more than a couple months. A candidate who understands the inner-workings of our government, a candidate who has the ability to rally supporters in every state, a candidate who understands how to lead the US in the 21st century.

Any ideas of who this could be? Pawlenty? Patraeus? Let me know what you think.

The Power of Going Mobile

Filed under: Bob McDonnell — loudounlady @ 10:51 pm

techPresident.com, a new media blog which started during the 2008 presidential election, has written a great article covering last year’s governor’s race here in the Commonwealth.

The article discusses the use of new media employed by the McDonnell campaign, specifically the text message program the campaign so effectively utilized.

I was a one of the thousands of individuals who signed up for the text messages from the McDonnell campaign. Personally I thought the program was great; when I wasn’t around a computer I was able to know what was going on with the campaign.

But beware!! The described experience is coming from a raving political gossip.

Let me know your thoughts on the program if you were one of the individuals who signed up for it.

The Beginnings of the McDonnell Era

Filed under: Bob McDonnell — loudounlady @ 10:25 pm

In one of his first actions since assuming the governorship of the Commonwealth, Bob McDonnell issued an executive order prohibiting discrimination “on the basis of race, sex, colors, national origin, religion, age, political affiliation, or unqualified persons with disabilities.”

The order annuls an order implemented by Governor Kaine in 2006.

Virginia’s Own to Deliver Republican Response to SOTU Address

Filed under: Barack Obama,Bob McDonnell — loudounlady @ 1:31 am

Earlier this week it was announced that Virginia’s Governor, Robert McDonnell, will deliver the Republican’s response to President Obama’s State of the Union Address, which is due to take place Wednesday evening.

It has been tradition for the GOP to select an up-and-coming GOPer. Despite last years governor’s race attracting national attention, Wednesday night’s response will give Mr. McDonnell the opportunity to present himself as a politician to the nation.

I wish McDonnell the best of luck and have no doubt he will rise to the challenge.

I have great hope for this administration and strongly believe these individuals will lead us on a road of prosperity.

I was not able to make it to the Inauguration last night but enjoyed looking at the photos on Gov. McDonnell’s NEW inaugural site. The site features the Governor’s entire Inaugural address here.
